Teams must be ready to play at least 5 minutes before their scheduled match time.

1.2 No stoppage of play or timeout during the game.

  • Final: Shootout – REC and INT (3 players), MX 4 players (2 men and 2 women)

2 – Conditions of play

2.1 Regardless of the temperature (sun), the team must respect the bench assigned to it according to the schedule.

2.2 The balls are supplied by Knapper. They will be chosen according to the temperature (orange if the temperature is hot and pink if it is cooler).

2.3 A team must have a minimum of 4 players plus a goalkeeper to start the game.

2.4 A player cannot play in 2 teams of the same category.

2.5 Teams must be ready on time. As soon as the referee announces the start of the game, the time begins. This will allow us to respect the schedule of the day (25-minute match).

2.6 After five minutes, if one of the teams does not meet all the eligibility criteria, the game will be won by default by the other team (3 to 0).

2.7 After five minutes, if neither of the two teams can determine the eligibility criteria the match ends in a draw (3 to 3). In the playoffs, a draw will be made to determine the winning team.

2.8 Slapshots are prohibited. If applicable, the referee will issue a warning (first attempt) or a penalty shot (second attempt). You will be able to test your hitting shot in the activation zone at the kiosk with the radar.

3 – Particularities of coed teams

3.1 In the coed, teams must have 2 women on the surface at all times.

4 – Equipment

4.1 The following equipment is required:

  • Running shoes
  • Hockey stick*
  • Pads*
  • Gloves*
  • Helmet*
  • Face protection*

*New rules

Like last year, it is mandatory to wear running shoes and of course to have a stick during a game. New! All types of sticks are accepted this year. We will have 3 out of 4 playing surfaces with plastic deck. So you can take your own ball hockey or ice hockey stick.

Then, it is necessary to wear pads for the protection of the shins and knees.

New rules

Since the health and safety of participants is our priority, we have decided to make hand protection mandatory and to be the first ball hockey event to implement a rule covering the protection of the head, eyes and teeth.

You will therefore have to wear the gloves and one or other of the following combinations: a helmet with visor/screen or a helmet with half visor and mouthguard or a helmet without visor with goggles/glasses and mouthguard. Glasses or sunglasses are accepted. Mouthguards will be provided for participants who need them.

You can also wear your own ball hockey or ice hockey helmet.

Your registration includes the team uniform in addition to two items of your choice (helmet or pads and stick or gloves).

There will be a complete shop on site for participants who wish to complete their equipment. Plan to arrive early before your first game to be ready and equipped for your first game.

4.2 Wearing helmets, with or without a visor, protective goggles and gloves are recommended but not compulsory.

4.3 Each player of the team must wear a jersey of a similar color. On the back of each jersey must have a number which must be different from any other number for the same team.

4.4 If the 2 teams have similar jersey colors, the visiting team will have to wear a bib.

4.5 Goalies must wear full hockey equipment consisting of pads, mitt, blocker, pants, chest protector, helmet and stick. It is recommended that you put tape on the inside of the pads to prevent wear and tear on the tennis surfaces.

5- Penalty

5.1 Any minor penalty results in a penalty shot. Any player on the playing surface can take it.

5.2 Any player receiving a major penalty in a game is ejected from the game and the opposing team will receive 2 penalty shots.

5.3 For a throw-in, a delay of 3 seconds and a 6-foot gap is allowed to the player. After 3 seconds the opposing player can rush towards the ball. The player with the ball during the catch can pass, advance with the ball or take a throw after having taken a minimum of 3 steps. If the player restarts the game before the referee’s whistle, there will be a change of possession. In the event that the ball has gone out of the box, play will resume from the point where the ball was clear. A ball caught in the fence results in a face-off.

5.4 It is up to the organization of the Charles-Bruneau Cup to decide to stop or resume a game due to the risky weather. Games can be played in the rain. However, the organization is not responsible for any injuries sustained, even if the conditions are not ideal. It is the responsibility of the players to be sufficiently protected. Heavy rain, an accumulation of water on the surface, a thunderstorm or a snow shower are all factors that may be enough to stop a game.

6 – End of the game

It is possible to remove the goalkeeper when his team is trailing behind and there is less than 2 minutes left in the game.

7 – Tie break

In the event of a tie in the standings after the end of the preliminary round, the tiebreaker will be as follows:

  1. Better differential
  2. Most victories
  3. Fewer losses
  4. More goals for
  5. Fewer goals against
  6. Duels won
  7. Prize draw

Have fun at Charles-Bruneau Cup !
